Waiting Room
Sitting, waiting
All dressed in hospital wear
Head cover and feet in socks
Blue headpiece, blue socks
We looked on as they
Wheeled you into the room
Doors tightly closed
No sound in my silence
Everything stood still.
After a long time
The doors opened wide
They wheeled you back into the patient’s room
The doctor walked over to update us
Our faces ran cold
Everything stood still
What news could it be?
The moment we dread most
Was here now
Right before our faces
With anticipation, we waited
