Unspoken Farewell

Unspoken Farewell

I didn't see her tears,

But the look on her face

Said more than words can say,

Her heart bled inside.

Her pain untold,

Her sadness in silence,

She grieved deeply,

She felt lost and empty.

For so strong a man,

Now felt like a child,

Helpless and weak,

Unable to stand on his own.

Reflections of all the years together,

Now his end creeps up,

Age has suddenly taken stage,

He made peace with all.

Now he lays in bed,

Grieving for all the things he is accustomed to,

No appetite, loss of energy,

A weakening body, empty soul.
