Unshackle the Past

Unshackle the Past

We hold on tight, to the weight of our past

The pain and the hurt, that will forever last

But in grasping so hard, we suffocate our soul

And prevent ourselves, from making whole

The memories linger, like shadows on the wall

Reminding us of what's gone, and what could never stand tall

The mishaps and misunderstandings, they echo through time

A burden we carry, that's truly not divine

But what if we let go? What if we release

The weight of yesterday, and all its unrest?

Would we find freedom, in the gentle breeze?

Would our hearts be lighter, and our souls at ease?

Don't carry the burden, of what's gone before

You'll only make it harder, for yourself to endure

The weight of regret, the sting of pain

Will hold you back, from living life again

So let go of the past, and set yourself free

Unshackle the chains, that bind you to misery

You deserve to live, in the beauty of the now

To breathe, to laugh, to love, and let your spirit glow

In letting go, you'll find your strength

And discover a peace, that's been waiting at length

So release the weight, and take a step ahead

And find the freedom, that's been in your heart, unsaid.
