The Strength to Walk Away
There are days the fire burns deep inside,
When harsh words cut and hatred won’t hide,
And every part of you wants to reply
To shout the truth, to question why.
But in the stillness, a voice speaks low,
“Let it go… let the anger go.”
For eyes that wound and hands that shove
Are crying for something they never got—love.
I see beyond the storm they throw,
The quiet battles they’ll never show.
The world has scarred them more than me
Their pain, their chains, their history.
So I won’t mirror the hurt they bring,
I’ll rise above, I’ll clip that sting.
Not because I’m weak or blind,
But because I choose to be kind.
There is power in the silent grace,
In turning from a darker place.
In walking on with peace, not pride
That’s strength no rage can override.
Let others carry what they must,
I’ll carry truth, I’ll carry trust.
For we are not what others do
We are the love we choose to hold true.
So I walk away, my heart intact,
No need for vengeance, no need to react.
I grow, I heal, I rise, I see
The strongest soul still walks gently.
