The Heart Beyond Appearances
Her parents looked at his frail body,
His dirty hands now from work,
The grease on his face,
The tire’s need showed.
They judged him.
He was not the suitor for their daughter.
They tried to talk her out of it.
They saw him and judged by appearance.
They didn't know him.
They didn't understand him.
They didn't know his heart,
The love and care for their daughter.
She saw him at a deeper level.
They understood each other.
Their love and care
Were inseparable.
But no one understood.
No one took the time.
They assumed he was poor,
A lesser man, they would say.
But in the coming of time,
They would come to know
How hard he worked
And how honest he was.
And his appearance was far from who he was.
He just loved what he did
And did it with passion.
But who he really was blew their minds.
