The Fragility of Time
Just a few days ago I saw you,
We spent time talking,
You were strong, vibrant,
Healthy and able.
Today you have crumbled,
Once a man, twice a child they say,
And so I saw it happen to you,
How life changes in a flash.
Without notice, here you are,
Fighting your health battles,
Struggling to keep up,
Pain, so much pain, unbearable.
Now weak and tired,
Asleep most of the time,
Aware yet unaware of what's going on,
Health deteriorating quickly.
Once a big, tough, strong man,
Now a frail, weakened structure,
Someone has to be around all the time,
To assist you and help you up.
How life has changed,
You have no interest in anything anymore,
You barely eat, no appetite,
You barely talk, no energy.
How your health took over,
Weakening you to this,
The pain you endure,
Sad to see you this way.
