Scars of War
In fields of fire, where death does reign
A nation's cry, a people's pain
The scent of smoke, the sound of dread
A war that rages, leaving hearts dead
The innocent fall, the young and old
Their dreams shattered, their stories untold
The cries of mothers, the tears of wives
Echoes of a lifetime, lost in the strife
The soldiers march, with hearts aflame
Their souls on fire, their wills to claim
The horrors seen, the memories held
The weight of war, that their hearts must yield
The cities lie, in ruin deep
Their beauty lost, their people asleep
The rubble stands, a testament to pain
A generation lost, a future in vain
The refugees flee, with hearts so sore
Their homes destroyed, their lives no more
The journey long, the road so cold
Their hope dwindles, their hearts grow old
The survivors search, for loved ones lost
Their hearts aching, their souls the cost
The memories haunt, the nightmares real
The scars of war, that their hearts must feel
The war may end, the battle cease
But the wounds remain, the pain release
The hearts that broke, the lives that changed
The memories that linger, the pain rearranged
In the aftermath, a new dawn breaks
A chance to heal, a chance to make
A new tomorrow, a brighter day
But the scars of war, will always stay.
