Fading Away
A piece of me died today, a fragment gone
As you disappeared, leaving me to atone
For the goodbye that was never spoken
The words that choked in my throat, unspoken
I stood on the sidewalk, a stranger to fate
Watching as you drove away, your heart exhilarated and great
You didn't even glance back, didn't notice my pain
Just another face in the crowd, a stranger in empty space
A new chapter unfolds, a new bride by your side
A new life begins, and I'm left to endure the tide
In this emptiness, where love once resided
A hollowed space, where memories now occupy
I could've complained, but words were lost in air
The ache within me, a heavy weight to bear
I stood there, frozen, as you drove away to stay out of sight
A stranger looking on.
That piece of me died today, and with it my heart
Left to wander in darkness, torn apart
In vain I search for peace in the fleeting tone
Of whispers that remain, a memory alone
